From March 5, 2025, nationals from European countries, comprising all EU member states and several non-EU nations, will be eligible to apply for ETA. From April 2, 2025, travelers from these countries must hold a valid ETA to enter the UK: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican City.
Application and Cost
Applying for an ETA can be done via the UK ETA app or the government website. The process is designed to be intuitive and straightforward. The cost stands at £10 per person, making it accessible and competitive compared to other global systems like the US ESTA and EU ETIAS.
Validity and Purpose
An ETA remains valid for two years or until the holder’s passport expires, whichever comes first. It allows for multiple journeys to the UK, with each stay limited to a maximum of six months. This requirement covers tourism, business, short-term study, and transit purposes.
