AFCON 2025 Travel Update: Morocco’s AEVM Requirements

Morocco has introduced a temporary Electronic Travel Authorization to Morocco, known as AEVM, for citizens of eight African countries during the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 period. The measure runs from September 25, 2025, to January 25, 2026. It applies to nationals of Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Niger, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia. These travelers are usually visa-exempt for Morocco, but must obtain advance electronic authorization for this period linked to the tournament. 

Purpose and context

AFCON 2025 is scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Organizers and authorities are using digital tools to manage larger crowds and enhance security. A new Yalla mobile app will serve as the gateway for fans, including Fan ID and the dedicated AFCON eVisa function. The ticketing phases and app launch were scheduled for late September 2025. 

Who needs which application path

– AFCON fans with match tickets: Apply through the Yalla app to obtain a Fan ID and the special AFCON eVisa function bundled together.
– Other travelers from the eight countries during the same dates, for tourism, business, or family visits: Apply for AEVM via Morocco’s official eVisa portal, Access Maroc. Authorities have advised submitting applications at least 96 hours before departure. Airlines will check for a valid AEVM at boarding. Visa types offered and permitted stay

– Standard Moroccan eVisa on Access Maroc: Single entry, stay up to 30 days, visa validity up to 180 days from issuance. Processing is available in two speeds: Standard, 72 hours, and Express, 24 hours. Categories include Tourist and Business. 
– AFCON AEVM via Yalla: Authorities have not published a different stay limit from the standard eVisa. Travelers should assume the standard 30‑day stay unless their authorization states otherwise. This is a reasonable inference based on official eVisa rules. 

Passport validity and documents

– Passport should be valid longer than the intended duration of stay, per Morocco’s consular guidance.
– Ensure at least one blank page for entry and exit stamps, per general entry guidance for Morocco. 

Exemptions

The temporary AEVM requirement does not apply to:
– Holders of diplomatic, service, special, or official passports
– Foreign residents of Morocco with valid residence permits
– Transit passengers who remain in the international zone at Moroccan airports
– Nationals of the eight countries married to Moroccan citizens, upon proof
– Travelers aged 55 and older

AFCON fans via Yalla

1) Download Yalla on or after September 25, 2025.
2) Register, link your match ticket, and complete Fan ID registration.
3) Follow the in‑app AFCON eVisa flow, upload the passport bio page, and submit. Keep your digital AEVM and Fan ID accessible on your phone for boarding and stadium access. 

Other travelers via Access Maroc (acces‑maroc.ma)

1) Create an account on Access Maroc.
2) Choose Tourist or Business eVisa, then complete the AEVM application.
3) Upload required documents, pay online, and submit at least 96 hours before departure during the AFCON window. Standard decisions target 72 hours, Express 24 hours. Carry a printout or digital copy of the approval for boarding checks. 

What airlines will do

Royal Air Maroc and other carriers will verify AEVM before boarding. Travelers without an approved AEVM may be denied boarding. Plan ahead, especially if traveling near match days when demand peaks.

– Apply early. If using Access Maroc, do not wait until the 96‑hour cutoff.
– Match day logistics: Keep Fan ID and AEVM handy. Expect security checks at venues.
