Starting February 3, 2025 (15th Bahman 1403), this policy will enable citizens from both countries to travel to each other’s territories without needing a visa under certain conditions.

Key Details of the Visa-Free Agreement

Duration of Stay: Citizens from Iran and Tajikistan will be allowed to stay in each other’s countries for up to 90 days per year, with the first visit limited to 30 days.

Implementation: Initially, visa-free travel is restricted to air routes between Dushanbe and Tehran.

Memorandum of Understanding: The framework for this new regime was formalized in November 2023 following high-level negotiations between the two nations.

This initiative aligns with Tajikistan’s ongoing efforts to simplify its visa process for global travelers. Recently, the country has extended its visa-free scheme to citizens from 25 countries, allowing them to visit for up to 30 days.

Moreover, a unilateral visa-free regime has been introduced for citizens over 55 from 16 countries, with a 14-day stay allowance. Additionally, Tajikistan has simplified visa procedures for citizens of 14 countries, including the Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, and Sudan, further opening up the country to international tourism and bolstering its engagement on the global stage.
