Belarus eVisa Adds Indian Citizens for 30-Day Stays

Belarus eVisa access has been announced for ordinary Indian passport holders, but applications are not yet available and no implementation date has been published.

Belarus eVisa eligibility is set to expand from 67 to 68 countries after India is added, replacing the usual need for an Indian citizen to seek a traditional visa at a Belarusian diplomatic mission. The approval was issued on September 14, 2026, but the online system has not yet been updated to accept Indian applicants.

What changed

Once implemented, Indian passport holders with ordinary passports will be able to apply for a single-entry eVisa allowing stays of up to 30 days. The change remains announced, not operational: the Foreign Ministry’s page and the E-Pasluga eligibility list still showed 67 countries when retrieved on September 16, 2026, and neither included India. The prior traditional-visa route generally applies until India can be selected in the system. According to the Official Website of the Republic of Belarus, India has been granted eligibility.

Who is affected

Only ordinary passports are covered. Diplomatic and official passport holders are outside the ordinary-passport eVisa program. Existing visa-free arrangements remain in place, including a conditional airport waiver for eligible Indian travelers with a previously used multiple-entry EU or Schengen visa. The eVisa, when available, may be used at international air, road and rail checkpoints, although direct entry from Russia on a Belarusian eVisa is unavailable for technical reasons.

Why Belarus made the change

Belarus says it is simplifying entry and reducing administrative barriers while strengthening people-to-people contacts. It also links the measure to business visits, B2B negotiations, investment and trade projects with India.

What travelers should do

Indian travelers should not rely on the new eVisa until India can be selected in the official E-Pasluga system. They should verify conditions before booking, use an existing visa-free route only if they meet every condition, or seek a traditional visa through the Belarusian Embassy. Under the current framework, applications are processed within seven calendar days and must be filed at least seven calendar days before entry. The expected adult cost is EUR 66, made up of a EUR 60 consular fee and EUR 6 service fee. eVisas cover tourism, business, private visits and specified sporting, cultural, scientific or educational activities.
